Grey Silo Golf Course

Grey Silo occupies a stretch of the Grand River valley inside Waterloo's RIM Park, an open, links-flavoured eighteen where wind and contour matter more than trees. Steve Young designed it, and the strategy is unusually clear: generous landing areas are there for anyone content to play safe, but the aggressive line toward a birdie brings in bunkering and native rough in a hurry. It measures about 6,532 yards to a par of 71 from the black tees, with four sets of markers so shorter hitters get a fair examination. The course served as the original home of the LPGA's Manulife Classic and hosted the event for three seasons, and the conditioning still reflects that pedigree. A large clubhouse, driving range and restaurant round out what is one of the strongest public tests in the Region of Waterloo.
