Banff sits inside Canada's oldest national park, ringed by Mount Rundle, Sulphur Mountain and Cascade Mountain in the Bow Valley. Golf here means playing beneath 2,500-metre peaks along the Bow River, with elk on the fairways as often as not. The alpine season is short, generally running from late May into early October.
