Fairmont Hot Springs is a resort community on Highway 93/95 in the Columbia Valley, sitting on the slope between Columbia Lake and Windermere Lake in the Rocky Mountain Trench. It is built around what is often described as Canada's largest natural mineral hot springs, whose odourless water feeds the resort's open-air pools. The Rockies rise sharply to the east and the Purcells sit across the valley to the west, and the surrounding benchland is dry, open and sunny. Golf is the summer half of the resort's business: Fairmont Hot Springs Resort operates three courses, the 18-hole Mountainside up against the Rocky Mountain slope, the 18-hole Riverside down on the Columbia River flats, and the shorter nine-hole Creekside.
