Conestoga Golf Club

Conestoga spreads twenty-seven holes along the banks of the Grand River in the Mennonite countryside north of Waterloo, and the scenery is a genuine part of the appeal. The C. E. Robinson design splits into three distinct nines: the 2,778-yard, par-34 Village nine runs beside and over the river and is the prettiest of the set; the 3,115-yard, par-35 Goose Run is tree-lined with small, deceptive greens; and the 3,184-yard Moors plays wide and exposed in a links idiom. Mixing any two gives a noticeably different round, so repeat visits rarely feel the same. Fairways roll gently and the greens are kept firm and true through the season. The clubhouse patio overlooks two of the ninth greens, and the nearby St. Jacobs market makes it an easy stop to build a day around.
