Victoria is British Columbia's capital and the mildest place to play golf in Canada — courses on the southern tip of Vancouver Island stay open through the winter while the rest of the country waits for spring. Olympic View Golf Club is the marquee public track, a Bill Robinson design with twelve lakes, two greenside waterfalls and views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Washington's Olympic Mountains. Closer to downtown, the municipal Cedar Hill Golf Course is a hilly, walkable par 67 through mature trees, and Victoria Golf Centre on Metchosin Road pairs a nine-hole par 3 with a driving range for a cheap, quick round. Add the neighbouring courses in Langford, Saanich and North Saanich and Greater Victoria becomes one of the deepest golf pockets in the province — championship resort golf, city munis and short courses all inside a half-hour drive of the Inner Harbour.
