High River Tee Times

High River sits on the Highwood River an hour south of Calgary, where the last of the prairie gives way to the ranching country of the Alberta foothills. The town is best known to golfers for the 27 holes at Highwood, laid out along the river's cottonwood flats with the Rockies filling the western horizon on a clear day. Chinook winds keep the season open longer here than the latitude suggests, and rounds run well into October in a good year. It is an easy detour off Highway 2 for anyone driving between Calgary and the Crowsnest.
