About Kitimat
Kitimat sits at the head of the Douglas Channel on BC's north coast, a planned town built in the 1950s around an aluminium smelter and framed by the Coast Mountains. It is a deep-water port and industrial centre wrapped in temperate rainforest, with the Kitimat River drawing anglers from around the world. Its golf course, cut into the valley beside Hirsch Creek, has been part of the town since 1970.
