Golf course
Belle River, Ontario
Rochester Place stretches along the Lake St. Clair shoreline east of Belle River, part of a resort property that pairs the course with cottages, marina slips and a restaurant. The parkland layout dates to 1979 and has since been rebuilt, running through stands of mature trees and sculpted berms to a par of 72 from about 6,400 yards at the back and 5,200 up front. Ponds and waterways come into play repeatedly, creating short risk-reward holes alongside longer, more conservative ones. The ground is flat Essex County farmland at heart, which makes for an easy walk, though wind off the lake is a constant factor.
