Golf course
Thunder Bay, Ontario
Fort William dates to 1926, when Stanley Thompson laid out the original holes beneath Mount McKay on the south side of Thunder Bay. Norman Woods reworked the property in 1959 and the present championship eighteen opened in August 1964, playing to par 72 at about 6,670 yards. Tree-lined fairways, elevation off the escarpment and mountain backdrops give the course its Northwestern Ontario character. It remains one of the region's best-known clubs, with a full clubhouse and practice facilities.
