The Winston Golf Club

The Winston Golf Club plays through the mature parkland of Winston Heights, a few minutes north of downtown Calgary on ground the club has held since its days as the Calgary Elks. Les Furber rebuilt the layout extensively in the early 1990s and it now stretches to just over 7,000 yards at par 72, with Nose Creek and a series of ponds pressing in on the closing stretch. It is a private club that keeps a genuine public window: non-members book up to four days ahead, and on weekends and holidays the sheet opens to guests after 1:30pm. The clubhouse and practice facility are new, and simulators keep the place busy through the Alberta winter.
