St. Eugene Golf Resort

St. Eugene is a Les Furber design that opened in May 2000 and stretches to just over 7,000 yards at par 72, on ʔaq̓am land in the St. Mary River valley north of Cranbrook. Furber routed it in two distinct halves: open, links-like ground near the old mission building, then a run of holes cut through rolling woodland and along the riverbank, with the Steeples range of the Rockies filling the horizon. Golf Digest named it one of Canada's top three new courses in 2001, and it remains the anchor of a resort that also includes a hotel and casino inside the restored St. Eugene Mission. The river holes on the back nine, where the tee shot is played across the braided gravel channel, are the ones people come back for.
