Golf course
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
One of Northern Ontario's oldest clubs, Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club opened in 1919 to a George Cumming routing and was later reworked by Stanley Thompson in 1952, with further revisions by Robbie Robinson and Les Furber. The semi-private layout plays to a par of 72 over roughly 6,768 yards from the back tees, with mature trees framing most corridors and water in play on several holes. The property sits just off Queen Street East a short drive from downtown, running back toward the ridge north of the St. Marys River. A driving range, bunker and chipping practice areas and a teaching professional round out the facility, which is generally open from mid-April to mid-October.
