Parry Sound Golf & Country Club

Golf has been played on this ground north of Parry Sound since 1929, when the club opened with nine holes; Thomas McBroom expanded it to a full eighteen in 1982. The routing is cut straight into the Canadian Shield, so granite outcrops, mixed pine and hardwood stands and small wetlands define the corridors rather than earthmoving. At just under 6,000 yards from the back it is not long, but the tree-lined tee shots and rock-edged landing areas reward accuracy far more than power. It is a scenic, distinctly Northern Ontario round, and the elevation changes make it feel bigger than the scorecard suggests.
