Lingan Golf & Country Club is one of the oldest clubs in Canada, founded in Sydney in 1895 and settled on its present ground at MacLean's Crossing in 1913. The original nine was laid out by Maritime amateur champion Malcolm Martin and redesigned by Stanley Thompson in 1922; C.E. Robinson added the second nine from 1964. It plays eighteen holes to par 72 at 6,628 yards from the blue tees, 6,317 from the white and 5,129 from the yellow, with the blue rated 71.7 against a slope of 125.
