Golf course
Armstrong, British Columbia
The Overlander is a nine-hole executive course in Armstrong, playing to a par of 29 over about 1,545 yards — short enough for a quick evening loop but with enough trouble to keep it interesting. The property was the Royal York Golf Course until a rebuild beginning in 2021 renamed it after the Overlanders of 1862, the party that trekked from Winnipeg to Kamloops. Tree-lined fairways, a pair of ponds and well-placed bunkers set up the round, and the ravine crossing the 7th is the hole that decides most cards. Alongside the course sits an 11-hole all-natural-grass putting course, the only one of its kind in the North Okanagan, plus a restaurant and event space.
