Redwood Meadows is an 18-hole championship course in the Alberta foothills, half an hour west of Calgary on Tsuut'ina Nation land next to Bragg Creek. Opened as nine holes in 1976 and quickly extended, it stretches to more than 7,200 yards at par 72 through dense spruce with the Elbow River winding along its edge. The ground is relatively flat for foothills golf, so the defence is the trees, the river and a series of ponds — the par threes at the 8th and 12th both play over water to sand-guarded greens. The Rockies fill the western skyline from most of the course, and Redwood Yards at the clubhouse handles food and drink afterwards. It is semi-private, so the public tee sheet opens only two days ahead.
