Golf course
Fernie, British Columbia
Fernie Golf Club has been played since 1918, making it one of the oldest courses in the Kootenays, though it only reached a full 18 holes in 1986. The par 70 layout runs along the valley floor beside the Elk River, framed on all sides by the Lizard Range and the Three Sisters. At roughly 6,570 yards it rewards accuracy over length, with mature trees lining most corridors and mountain views from nearly every tee. The club joined forces with the local tennis club in 1928 to become the Fernie Golf and Country Club, a name still used locally.
