Exeter Golf Club

Exeter Golf Club started life in 1961, when a local farmer put his fields near the Lake Huron shoreline under grass and opened them to golfers. Today the nine plays over gently rolling, well-treed ground that gives away little of its farming past, measuring about 2,970 yards to a par of 36 — roughly 5,942 yards and par 72 if you go around twice. The holes are honest rather than punishing, which makes it a comfortable walk for beginners and a quick, satisfying loop for anyone squeezing in a round after work. The clubhouse is the giveaway: a turn-of-the-century barn rebuilt with reclaimed timber and antique farm tools, now home to The Barn restaurant and pub. Centralia sits about half an hour from London, Grand Bend and Stratford, so it is an easy detour on a Huron-shore golf trip.
