Golf course
Falmouth, Nova Scotia
Avon Valley Golf & Country Club was established in 1971, with play from 1973 on nine holes before growing to eighteen; Graham Cooke carried out later redesign work. It plays to par 71, 36 out and 35 in, at 6,067 yards from the blue tees, 5,868 from the white and 5,347 from the red, with a rating of 69.8 and slope of 127 from the blues. The ground is hilly Annapolis Valley parkland near the Avon River at Windsor, with uphill holes at the 2nd, 6th, 10th, 11th and 14th. A creek crosses the fairway at the 2nd and runs down the right at the 16th, and water comes into play at the 5th, the signature 8th and in front of the 12th. The greens are fast and subtle and the breezes variable.
