Uplands Golf & Ski Club

Uplands is a rare thing in the GTA: a wooded valley course tucked inside the city, minutes from Yonge Street in Thornhill. It began life as an eighteen-hole Stanley Thompson design and was reworked into nine holes in 1989, keeping the mature trees and steep valley walls that give the property its character. Measuring roughly 2,775 yards from the back tees at a par of 34 (68 for the full eighteen), it favours placement over power, and the short par threes at the fourth and eighth are the holes people remember. Rounds move quickly and the setting feels far more rural than the surrounding suburbs suggest. In winter the same slopes become a small ski and snowboard hill with a learning program, so the club runs year-round.
