Golf course
Smithers, British Columbia
Smithers Golf & Country Club plays 18 holes to a par of 72 at roughly 6,300 yards, laid out on the floor of the Bulkley Valley beneath the ski runs of Hudson Bay Mountain. The club dates to 1931 and grew into a full 18-hole course after a neighbouring 150-acre parcel was donated in the 1950s, which explains the contrast between the older, tighter tree-lined holes and the more open newer ground. A creek crosses the property and is carried by a series of white footbridges, coming into play on several approach shots. The mountain backdrop behind the closing holes is the view most visitors remember.
