Ridgetown Golf & Curling Club

Ridgetown has been part of the Chatham-Kent golf landscape since 1923, when it began with tin cans for cups and cloth flags on sticks. A century on it is a full 18 holes, a par 72 measuring about 6,099 yards over rolling ground in the flat farm country north of Lake Erie. Length is not the defence here; the greens are famously small and well kept, so short irons and wedges have to be dialled in to score. The clubhouse is a restored century farmhouse with a big patio and honest country cooking, and it doubles as a curling club through the winter. It is a good example of the neighbourhood courses built across Ontario in the 1920s, and an easy add-on to a day trip toward Lake Erie or Pelee.
