Peninsula Golf Course

Peninsula Golf Course sits on the north shore of Lake Superior at Marathon, on a routing credited to Canadian architect Stanley Thompson and dating to 1952. The nine-hole layout is played twice for an eighteen-hole par of 72 over roughly 6,142 yards, with two sets of tees changing the angles on the second loop. Boreal forest, granite and long views over the lake give the course a distinctly northern Ontario character. It is owned by the Town of Marathon and is the only course for a considerable distance along Highway 17.
