Golf course
Erin, Ontario
Calerin is a Doug Carrick nine tucked into the Caledon Hills near Erin, and it is regularly named among the best short courses in Ontario. Each hole has two entirely separate tee decks approaching from different angles, lengths and elevations, so a full eighteen plays like two distinct nines rather than a repeat. Carrick's trademarks are all here: wide bentgrass fairways that pinch in exactly where you want to land, contoured greens that give nothing away, and more than fifty bunkers across the par-36 layout. The hillside terrain delivers uphill and downhill shots in equal measure — the 360-yard sixth, doglegging right to an elevated green over sand, is the hole everyone remembers. Highland golf on the divide between the Lake Ontario and Lake Erie watersheds, with a renovated clubhouse and restaurant at the end of it.
